Kim Kardashian has officially cemented her status as the queen of the famous-for-being-famous as Forbes has recognized her on their Celebrity 100 list.
For raking in an estimated $28 million over the last 12 months, Kim got the #80 spot on the list, above Oscar-winning actresses Meryl Streep, Gwyneth Paltrow and Natalie Portman, as well as powerhouse authors Stephen King, J.K. Rowling and Veronica Roth.
Kim Kardashian West, 33, is the only star to make the 2014 list with reality television as her main claim to fame. And Forbes says the bulk of her fortune came from:
- her public appearances - that is, showing up at club and shop openings, parties, or events,
- earnings from the Kardashian Kollection,
- a cut of the DASH boutique's earnings, some of the money made from the Kardashian Beauty & Tanning lines,
- and (of course) from social media aka when she tweets ads out to her millions of followers! Kim alone has 21.9 million followers on Twitter and 15.7 million on Instagram. Such is her popularity that a recent shot of the star wearing a blonde wig received well over 700,000 Instagram “likes.”
