Man Kills Wife After Argument Over Bushmeat

A man in Taraba has ended the life of his spouse after an argument ensued between them over some bush meat.
30-year-old Ambrose Anthony is said to have hit his wife, Helen on her abdomen with firewood for not being able to tell him where the bushmeat was.
The victim is said to have succumbed to the injuries she received and eventually died as a result.

Leadership reports:
Anthony, a native of Yorro Area,Taraba State, was charged with culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
Prosecutor Mela Joseph said that the incident occurred on April 7, 2014.
Joseph told the court that the accused hit his wife’s abdomen with firewood over her alleged failure to account for the ‘bushmeat’ he bought from a village market.
He said the injuries sustained by Helen led to her death while she was receiving medical attention at the General Hospital, Zing. He pleaded with the court to adjourn the case to enable the police conclude investigation.
The magistrate, Victoria Barnabas, adjourned the case till May 20 and remanded the accused in prison custody.
