FG asks Chief Justice of Nigeria Walter Onnoghen to vacate office over his refusal to declare his assets, to be arraigned in court on Monday Jan 14th

The Federal Government has asked the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Justice Walter Onnoghen to immediately vacate his exalted office as Head of the Nation’s judiciary over his alleged refusal to declare his assets after assuming office in March 2017.

Vanguard reports that in a move to force Justice Onnoghen out of office, the Federal Government will on Monday January 14, 2019 arraign him before the Justice Danladi Yakubu led- Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja on charges of failures to declare his assets as required by law and for operating Bank Domiciliary Foreign Currency Accounts.

Police were called to a Chicago nightclub where R. Kelly was partying and celebrating his birthday early Thursday morning

Police showed up to V75 Chicago after receiving a call about a warrant for R. Kelly's arrest. Someone called the police to say that Mr Kelly was there and he had a warrant for his arrest.

Police confirmed that they were at the club and made contact with R. Kelly. However, once they determined there was no actual arrest warrant for him, he was left to continue partying the night away.

American singer, Lady Gaga has offered a public apology for collaborating with R. Kelly who is currently facing a series of sexual allegations.

The 32-year-old singer made the announcement in a statement she posted on Twitter following the recent Lifetime documentary series that chronicles allegations of abuse, predatory behavior, and pedophilia against singer R.Kelly.

In the statement, Gaga who also is a victim of sexual assault after he was sexually assaulted at age 19, revealed that she's standing by anyone who has ever been the victim of sexual assault and will be removing her 2013 collaboration “Do What U Want” with Kelly from iTunes and streaming services.

Forbes magazine has released its 2018 list of Africa's Richest billionaires.

Nigeria’s Aliko Dangote retained his position as the richest man in Africa for eight years straight. He, however, lost almost $2bn compared to his last year’s worth.

According to the list, Aliko's networth currently stands at $10.3 billion.

Telecommunication's magnate, Mike Adenuga, was number 2 on the list with a $9.2 billion worth. Folorunsho Alakija was one of the billionaires who suffered a drop in their net worth between last year and this year, as she held No 19 on the 20-man list. She is currently worth $1.1 billion.

Michael Jackson's estate slams sexual abuse documentary about him which is about to premiere at Sundance

The late Michael Jackson's estate is slamming a new documentary making allegations of sexual abuse by the late singer.

The documentary titled "Leaving Neverland," directed and produced by Dan Reed will premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival on 25th of January at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, Utah, followed by a Q&A session.

In the documentary, two men (now in their 30s) claim they were sexually abused in the 1990s by Jackson, starting at the ages of 7 and 10. The identities of the men featured in the film have not yet been revealed.

Judge dismisses Ashley Judd's sexual harassment claim against Harvey Weinstein

Disgraced film producer, Harvey Weinstein just won a major victory as a court dismissed Ashley Judd's sexual harassment claims against him.

Ashley claimed Weinstein shut her out of "Lord of the Rings" after she turned down his sexual demands. She also claimed he blacklisted her from movie roles. She went on to sue him for sexual harassment in professional relationship.

But a federal judge has ruled Judd and Weinstein did not have a relationship that fell within the law. The judge specifically said a producer/actress relationship was not covered under the law.

Opposition candidate, Felix Tshisekedi wins Presidential election in Congo

Opposition candidate, Felix Tshisekedi has won the Democratic Republic of Congo's tightly contested presidential vote, the electoral commission says.  

The provisional result puts him ahead of rival opposition candidate Martin Fayulu who has denounced it as a fraud. France has also questioned the outcome.

If confirmed, Felix Tshisekedi will be the first opposition challenger to win since the DR Congo gained independence. Current President Joseph Kabila is stepping down after 18 years in office.  

DR Congo is a country the size of Western Europe and Kabila had promised its first orderly transfer of power since independence from Belgium in 1960. The election outcome was initially expected to be announced on Sunday. However, the interim result can still be challenged.

Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey agrees to join Juventus in 5-year deal worth £36m

Arsenal forward, Aaron Ramsey has agreed a five-year deal with Juventus worth £36m and will join the Italian champions on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The midfielder has been discussing a move for weeks and will leave Arsenal after 10 years at the club. It had been clear the Wales international would move in the summer and Juventus had been the frontrunners to secure the 28-year-old’s signature.
